Obama Talking About Sri Lanka at Google. (not entirely)
US presidential hopeful Obama is talking about Sri Lanka for one brief movement in his discussion at Google. Obama here is talking about obviously what Sri Lanka famous for. The whole discussion is quite long, like a one hour. But I think it is worth spend an hour listening to him. I absolutely guarantee it will be far more uplifting than listening about Mervin Silva in Sirasa.
For some reason I quite like the fellow. In deep down inside we all want to see one charismatic real leader, not a politician, running any country in the world, in our life time. There was such a type of leaders before the Second World War. But since after, look like all the leaders we see everywhere in the world are just another politician, (except Mandela of cause..). But in this case, Obama seems to be a genuine article. At least I like to believe so. May be I believe it like a hopeless teenage girl. But it is nice to daydream some times.
Anyway it looks like Obama understand the new WIKI generation quite well than rest of the leaders. And at least he talks about using technology in the democratic process. I’m a big fan of that concept. I don’t think we are able to reduce the level of “representatives” involved in the democratic process and increase direct people involvement in policy making in our life time. I’m quite sure professional middlemen, who we call Politicians, will not like that idea that much. But at least, if we humans are able to start using Bits & Bytes in the democratic process, in our life time, at least we can start reducing middleman involvement in governing.
Anyway, old woman in US seems don’t understand the whole WIKI generation that much. Of cause America been a feminine country, when Hillary cried like she lost her puppy after the Iowa, old American woman rushed in to vote for her. Even though America is not my country, I don’t like the fact, Bush dynasty after Clinton dynasty coming to power in America - We South Asians know very well, how all that goes. It is quite interesting to follow American elections, but I’m been a Sri Lankan, I like spicy food and murder in election campaign.

thanks for that, i had read parts of it before but never seen it i do have to question some of his plans though, like making government data public, i dont know how feasible OR safe that would be. also his promise to increase teachers' salaries when theres so much national debt. i still support him though, hes inspiring and motivated and [seems] honest.

Deane,
I think u are talking about Christopher Hitchens. He seems to got it wrong, or make it “wrong”.
T,
I think government records are already public (but in paper format), if not they should be, because it is belong to the public. Most of the government records (in US and EU, not in SL), already available in bits and bytes too. After all, we should do the same thing we have done to publishing, trading, writing, matchmaking, social networking and all others in to politics too.
Planet Apex,
Not exactly. I was interested to know how knowledgeable the fellow is, since after Hillary start getting funds from a group lead by reincarnation of God Vishnu, commonly known as LTTE.
Jack point. Agree. I change the title a bit. :)

Agree Obama provides hope for something that has been lost in modern politics.
Unfortunately, after viewing him in this campaign, felt a bit queasy about the way he comes close to using his religion/Christianity to attract votes. Would have been nice if he was above all that. But then I suppose this is the real world.

Hey Sam,
I like your style..kinda agree with you on most parts..No obama doesnt think its religious war he says it is similar to Ireland issue which is power struggle like ours with religion as a prop up device as ethinicity in ours.
