Fly a Kite - Enjoy Democracy
I was reading the
news about kite ban in Afghanistan; make me think how extreme a government
can be and how weak we civilians are without democracy. Talibans banned kite
flying for protect children and made them spend more time studding the holy
book. After fall of Taliban, afghan children now have freedom to fly a kite.
Congratulations on them.
Made with simple sticks and paper - but a privilege we can loose just like a
kite. As a child I didn't had easy freedom to fly a kite like most of other
kids. My parents didn't want me to hang out in paddy fields with other kids and
spend time on useless things. I had to struggle for it. But when I look at it
now as an adult, it is still a privilege I have, and I can loose it any time pretty
easily if I don't maintain it, just like how I lost my privilege to watch
The Da Vinci Code.
Next time when I see a child with a kite, I will think about the freedom I have
and how thankful I'm for what is left of it.
Fly a Kite. Enjoy Democracy.
